Danish and Swedish are really similar. Denmark even ruled Sweden until the 1500s. When you look at them just from a writing point of view, they are really similar. The biggest difference betweren the two is that they have very different pronunciations. Swedish uses a pitch accent, where as Danish uses what is called stød which are kind of like little glottal stops that punctuate the sentence. It gives the language a very unique sound 🙂
