What, or who, is a ‘revenant’?

It’s the title of Leonardo DiCaprio’s new film – but what exactly does does ‘revenant’ mean? And does it have anything to do with bears?

A “revenant” is someone who has returned (usually someone who has died). It is an interesting title for the movie, but I suppose it brings up the question. Should we name movies with words that are not commonly used. Does it hurt the marketing of the film? It probably won’t, but an interesting thing to ponder.
