What does pandemic mean?

The word pandemic is sometimes used to mean a severe outbreak. But actually, as they explain this video, the word means “all the people”. “Pan” means all (such as in the word panacea, a cure all) and demic which means people, which is related to the word democracy (which means rule by the people).
