Old letters in English

English has gone through a surprisingly large amount of spelling and writing changes over the centuries. When the scribes first arrived in England and started writing Old English down, it was pretty phonetic. But pronunciation moved on, but spelling didn’t. That is why today we have such a weird spelling system.
