Researchers discover rare language in PNG’s Highlands

Just as it was about to fade from memory, linguists working in Papua New Guinea have discovered a language spoken by only a handful of elderly villagers.

It is very important to preserve minority language as they each have a unique outlook on the world. Some parts of the world are very inaccessible and there may be smaller languages there that haven’t even been studied yet. There are, by some estimates, 7000 languages in the world.
